This wiki is the result of the ETS
Science project by Lei Liu, Aaron Rogat, and Maria Bertling. T
he purpose of this project was to develop a science competency model and three related learning progressions, which were developed by applying the Cognitively Based Assessment of, for, and as Learning (CBAL) approach to the domain of middle school science. The science competency model and its related learning progressions were developed by reviewing existing literature on learning sciences and science education, which have placed increasing emphasis on learners’ knowledge and ability to apply scientific knowledge to conduct evidence-based reasoning.
Most of the content on the site was written by Lei, Aaron, and Maria. Others who contributed to the construction of the site were Randy Bennett, Lynn Zaback, Kim Fryer, and Denise Schmutte.
